WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – Embry-Riddle softball traveled south to West Palm Beach to face Palm Beach Atlantic for a weekend series against the Sailfish.
The Eagles dropped a 5-2 loss to PBA despite scoring the first run of the game in the second inning.

HOW IT HAPPENED
2nd Inning:
- Mattea Martin opened with a leadoff single followed with Addison Orr's two-out walk.
- Riley Sullivan knocked an RBI single to shallow center field, plating Martin for the 1-0 lead.
- ERAU's lead was erased as PBA tied the game in the bottom half of the inning.
- A leadoff double got the inning started before an error would help plate the equalizer.
3rd Inning:
- The Sailfish took a 4-1 lead in the third with three hits, leaving the bases loaded in the process.
- Shelby Morse exited the game after pitching 2.2 innings as Olivia Dougherty came into the game in relief, striking out her first batter faced.
4th Inning:
- Emma Wood blasted her third homer of the season as the leadoff batter, cutting the ERAU deficit to two runs.
- Palm Beach Atlantic advanced to a 5-2 lead in the bottom half, scoring on an RBI single.
INSIDE THE STATS
- PBA led 7-3 in hits while ERAU gave up three errors to the Sailfish's one.
- Wood's homer is the sixth of her career, placing her tied for seventh in the program's individual all-time career record home run hitters.
- The homer from Wood also notched her 91st RBI of her career which places her third in the program's all-time records.
