DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Embry-Riddle women's lacrosse found out on Sunday night that they will be competing in the NCAA II National Tournament for the second consecutive season. Four of the six teams in the South Region are from the Sunshine State Conference, and three of the four SSC teams will be heading to Lake Myrtle Sports Park.
As the No. 5 seed in the region, ERAU will be playing the No. 4 seed, Tampa in the First Round of the tournament on Thursday, May 7, at 11 a.m. The winner of Thursday's contest will advance to play the No. 1 overall seed, Florida Southern on Saturday, May 9, at 11 a.m. Each of these games will be hosted by Florida Southern but will be played at a neutral site at Stadium Field in Lake Myrtle Sports Park.
This will be the first ever national tournament matchup between the two schools. The Spartans and Eagles played earlier this season at Tampa, with UT claiming a 17-8 win on April 15.
There are 24 total teams in the national tournament with the teams being split up into four total regions. There will be a pair of three-team tournaments to determine who plays for the regional championship. The winners of each of the three-team brackets will face off in the NCAA Quarterfinals on May 16 at the highest remaining seed. The advancing team out of the South Region will travel to Rochester, N.Y., for the NCAA DII National Championship final four, with the Semifinal game slated for May 21 at Judson Stadium, and the National Championship game on May 23.
