ORLANDO, Fla. -- The Sunshine State Conference named Embry-Riddle men's cross country runner Nicholas Scarangelli its Runner of the Week for the third week of the season, ending Sept. 21.
Scarangelli, who succeeds teammate Taye Newman, the SSC's Week 1 honoree, led the Eagles to a fourth-place finish at the FSU Pre-Regional at Apalachee Regional Park.
The senior from New Jersey finished 6.7 seconds behind Florida State's Hudson Betts, completing the 8K course in 24:34.9. Scarangelli was the first NCAA Division II finisher, beating runners from six SSC rivals as well as regional foe and No. 23 Alabama Huntsville.
Embry-Riddle will split its squad for its next competition. One group returns to Apalachee Regional Park for the FSU Invitational on Oct. 9, and another travels to Kansas for the NCAA Pre-National meet at Rim Rock Farm on Oct. 11.
