2009 ITA Florida Regional crown...held off teammate Charlie Rice in three sets
(6-3, 3-6, 7-5) to advance to the ITA Small College National Championships...ranked
ninth nationally and third in the region in the first ITA poll of the 2009-10
season...went 7-2 in doubles play with Peter Francis...pulled out an 8-6 win over
teammates Charlie Rice and Luke Maricic in the ITA regional semifinals...went
three sets against teammates Adrian Bayh and Jan Hoekzema before pulling out a
7-6 (2), 1-6, 10-7 victory to earn a spot in the ITA Small College National
Championships doubles competition...topped Martin Methodist 's Melvin Prada and
Vincius Santos in the first round at the ITA nationals...defeated fourth-ranked
Remy Caffardo and Daniel Ramirez of Graceland 6-4, 6-3 to take third at the ITA
National Championships...the ERAU tandem ranked third in the first ITA poll of
2009-10.
As A Junior in 2008-09: Turned in a 11-3
singles record with a 10-1 mark in dual match play...undefeated in seven matches
at the No. 5 singles spot...closed out his singles campaign on an eight-match
winning streak...registered shutouts against St. Thomas' Kenneth Evans (Feb. 8),
Aquinas' Dan Doerrfeld (Mar. 11), Georgetown's (Ky.) Frankie Roberts (Mar. 16)
and 24th-ranked Webber International's Reyne Hospeddes (Mar. 25)...pulled out a
three-set victory against Matthew Rock (2-6, 6-3, 6-1) to clinch the Eagles'
win over NCAA I Jacksonville on Feb. 12...played in 21 doubles matches with Peter
Francis, posting an 18-3 record...the duo was 4-1 in conference play...16 of their
18 wins were at the No. 3 doubles spot...only loss between Feb. 24 and May 15 was
an 8-4 decision against Roman Werschel and Sergio Velez of top-ranked Barry
(Mar. 14)...earned an 8-5 win of No. 3 Lynn's Luca Pavanelli and Alessandro Sarra
(Apr. 4)...took an 8-2 win over Fabio Silva and Jose Hilla of third-seeded Fresno
Pacific in the semifinals of the NAIA National Championship. Fall 2008: Posted a 1-2 singles record
in fall play...forced to retire in both losses due to injury...lone win came
against Bethune-Cookman's Cristian Cruz (6-2, 6-3) at the ERAU Open (Sept.
19)...partnered with both Luke Maricic and Charlie Rice in doubles, recording a
1-1 record with each player...Bolgar and Rice topped the St. Thomas team of
Jeremy Bache and William Fountain 8-3 in the opening round of the ITA/Florida
Regional (Oct. 3), but suffered a touch 9-8 loss to Webber International's Erik
Lawson and Kyle Mahlan in the quarterfinals.
As A Sophomore in 2007-08: Posted a
13-6 overall singles record, including an 11-4 mark in dual match play...ranked
45th in the final ITA/NAIA national poll...posted a 3-0 league record...played
the majority of his matches at the No. 6 spot where he was 9-4...was victorious
in the two matches he played at No. 5...won seven matches in a row between Feb.
1 and Mar. 12...shutout Northwood's (Fla.) Alex Dunn 6-0, 6-0 (Feb.
10)...clinched the Eagles' win over No. 10 Vanguard, topping Garrett Gillon
6-2, 6-2...also scored the clincher against 14th-ranked NCAA II foe Florida
Southern with a 6-2, 6-3 decision against Ben Taylor...went 14-9 in doubles
play, tallying a 5-1 record when partnered with Tomoaki Yasuda in the first half
of the season...notched seven doubles wins with Jan Hoekzema as is
partner...Fall 2007: Listed at No.
33 in the ITA Preseason poll...2-2 in the fall campaign...earned a three-set
win in the first round of the Embry-Riddle Fall Tournament, topping Florida
Southern's Alex Thesleff 3-6, 6-3, 6-2...defeated Webber International's Leigh
Griffiths 6-1, 6-1 in the second round of the ITA Regional (Sept 28)...fell to
teammate Mislav Hizak 6-3, 6-3 in the regional quarterfinal...posted a 2-2
doubles record, including a 2-1 mark with Carlos Bes Comeras as his
partner...Bolgar and Bes Comeras are rated eighth nationally according to the
ITA preseason poll...the duo won two straight matches in the ITA Regional,
dispatching St. Thomas' Adam Perez and Jeremy Bache 8-0, and Jan Menzen and
Dima Chiriacov of Savannah College of Art & Design 9-7...lost 6-4, 6-2 to
the ERAU tandem of Mislav Hizak and Konstantin Lazarov in the regional
championship match.
As A Freshman in 2006-07: Joined the Eagle lineup in the spring...ITA Scholar
Athlete...finished the year at 11-1 with nine wins at the No. 5 spot and one
win each at the second and third positions...forced to sit out six matches due
to injury...only loss was a 6-7 (6-8), 7-6 (10-8), 4-6 decision to Tomas Racak
of second-ranked NCAA II opponent Lynn (Feb. 10)...undefeated in FSC play at
5-0...blanked Rollins' Albin Hubscher (Feb. 27) and Northwood's Kevin Butler
(Apr. 20) 6-0, 6-0...bested Vasileios Psyrras 6-4, 6-2 to score the clincher in
the Eagles' win over sixth-ranked Vanguard (Mar. 20)....posted a 14-3 doubles
record...played 11 consecutive matches with a 9-2 overall record and a 3-0
league mark with Bes Comeras as his partner...closed out the season with five
wins in his last six doubles matches when he teamed up with Luke Maricic.
