Fall 2011: Ranked eighth in the ITA preseason national singles poll…won her first five matches of the fall campaign on the way to a 5-1 record…only loss was to teammate Rocio Frej Vitalle (3-6, 2-6) in the semifinals of the USTA/ITA Florida Regional tournament (Oct. 1)…teamed up with Josefine Strom for a 6-2 doubles mark…the tandem repeated as USTA/ITA Florida Regional doubles champions after holding off teammates Ekaterina Kamendova and Rocio Frej Vitalle 6-3, 5-7, 10-7 in the regional final (Oct. 3)…earned a fourth place finish at the USTA/ITA National Small College Championships…Chen and Strom are ranked fourth in the ITA/NAIA preseason doubles poll.
As A Junior in 2010-11: First team NAIA All-American…first team ITA All-American…The Sun Conference Player of the Year…ITA All-America Scholar-Athlete…ranked third in singles in the final ITA/NAIA poll of the season after spending most of the season in the No. 2 spot…closed out the season with a 23-5 record, including a 14-3 dual record and an undefeated 5-0 mark in league play…earned 14 wins playing at the No. 1 spot…notched five wins against ranked opponents…named The Sun Conference Player of the Week on Feb. 28 and Mar. 7…clinched the Eagles’ wins over Florida Tech (Feb. 6), St. Leo (Feb. 12) and Eastern Kentucky (Mar. 8)…shut out Roshni Luthra 6-0, 6-0 in the Eagles’ 7-2 defeat of NCAA II No. 1 Rollins (Feb. 24)…posted a 29-5 doubles record…went 28-5 in tandem with Josefine Strom…the duo spent five months at the top of the ITA/NAIA national poll and finished the season ranked No. 2…the duo owned a nine-game win streak from Feb. 3 – Mar. 5…in five of their last six matches of the year, Strom and Chen dropped just six games. Fall 2010: Ranked No. 2 in the ITA/NAIA preseason singles poll, the highest ranking of any women’s tennis player in ERAU history…compiled a 9-2 ledger in the fall…entered the USTA/ITA Florida Regional as the No. 2 seed and dropped just two sets in her first three matches on the way to claiming the regional title (Oct. 3) and securing a spot in the USTA/ITA National Small College Championship field as the No. 4 seed…won her first two matches, including a three-set (4-6, 6-4, 7-6 (5)) upset of No. 1 seed Ana Veselnovic of Auburn Montgomery in the semifinals (Oct. 15)…finished as the ITA/NAIA national runner-up following a 6-2, 6-4 loss to Point Loma Nazarene’s Kristin Strimple (Oct. 17)…teamed up with Josefine Strom for a 10-2 record in doubles…the duo achieved ERAU’s first-ever No. 1 doubles ranking in women’s tennis in the ITA/NAIA preseason poll…Chen and Strom unseated 2009 regional doubles champions Hillary Collins and Magda Bresson 6-2, 6-3 to capture the 2010 USTA/ITA Florida Regional doubles title….the duo defeated Strimple and Ashley Litchfield 7-5, 6-3 to bring home Embry-Riddle’s first ever national title in women’s tennis…the tandem also played its way into the ITA Super Bowl before falling to Armstrong Atlantic’s top-ranked duo of Alida Muller-Wehlau and Barbora Kritckova 6-4, 6-0.
As a Sophomore in 2009-10: NAIA first team All-American…ITA All-American…first team All-Conference selection…ranked 19th in the final ITA/NAIA singles poll…two-time Sun Conference Player of the Week…set an ERAU single season record for wins with 27…posted a 27-6 overall record with a 23-3 mark in dual match play…played the majority of her matches at the No. 2 singles spot where she was 22-2…registered nine shutouts on the year…won 10 matches in a row from Mar. 8 to Mar. 30…closed out the season on a six-match winning streak…dropped just three sets in her last five contests…collected six wins against nationally ranked opponents…registered a 6-1, 6-2 win over Barry’s Angie Werschel who was ranked 10th in NCAA Division II (Feb. 13)…cruised to a 6-0, 6-0 win over Walsh’s Barbara Lewis (May 18) to score the clincher and help the Eagles advance to the quarterfinals of the NAIA National Championships…partnered with Natasa Zoricic for a team-best 23-9 doubles record and a No. 5 rating in the final ITA/NAIA doubles poll of 2009-10…the duo was 19-7 in dual matches (all at the top spot), including a perfect 5-0 in league matches…the tandem totaled five shutouts on the year…Chen and Zoricic won 13 of their 14 doubles contests between Feb. 26 and Apr. 3 and closed out the season on a four-match winning streak…Fall 2009: Earned four wins in singles play…registered shutouts of Webber International’s Jeanette Hicks and SCAD’s Stephanie Gula in the Florida ITA Regional tournament (Oct. 2-4)…partnered with Natasa Zoricic for a 5-2 doubles record…defeated the St. Thomas duo of Camille Allen and Ydsia Quintero 6-0, 6-0 in the ITA Regional semifinals…the pair suffered a tough three-set loss (4-6, 7-6 (8-6), 7-10) loss to the SCAD team of Magdalena Bresson and Hillary Collins in the regional championship.
As A Freshman at Auburn Montgomery: Posted a 13-1 singles record in the spring…went 19-3 in doubles on the year…helped the Lady Senators to the NAIA National title in 2009…AUM also captured the Southern States Athletic Conference regular season and tournament championships…second team All-American…All-SSAC selection.
Prep: Graduated from Tam Kang High School in 2008…member of the Chinese Taipei junior national team that earned a spot in a junior international tournament in Australia…one of the top two female tennis players in Taiwan in the 18s division.
Personal: Born in Kaohsiung, Taiwan on Jul. 2, 1990…parents are Ching Chun Chen and Hsui Lan Lin…majoring in Business Administration.
