Biography
2014-15: CROSS COUNTRY: Competed in seven meets for the Eagles…had five top-five finishes…ERAU’s top finisher at the ERAU ASICS Classic (Sept. 27), Charles Bowles Invitational (Oct. 4), and the Sand Shark Invitational (Oct. 25) where he set a personal record with a time of 24:32.82 to become the fourth fastest runner in ERAU History…named a first team All-Conference performer as he finished third overall at The Sun Conference Championships (Nov. 8).
2013-14: CROSS COUNTRY – Competed in six meets as a junior…earned First Team All-Sun Conference accolades after finishing in second place at The Sun Conference Championships (Nov. 9)…ran a personal-best at TSC Championships in 25:08.08 becoming the seventh fastest runner in Eagle history and helping the team to its ninth straight conference title…was the third Eagle finisher in 123rd place overall in 26:09.35 helping the team to its 16th place finish at the NAIA National Championships (Nov. 23)…also earned Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athlete honors and Academic All-Sun Conference accolades for his performance in the classroom. INDOOR: Became an NAIA All-American with his Distance Medley relay teammates when they finished sixth at the NAIA Indoor National Championships (March 6) in a school-record time of 10:02.42…also ran in the 4x800m relay at the NAIA Indoor National Championships as the team posted a 7:47.77 for 12th place…won three events at the Embry-Riddle Last Chance (Feb. 22), including the 4x800m relay (7:52.45), the 1,000m (2:31.46) and the 800m (1:58.85). OUTDOOR: Part of the 4x800m relay squad that qualified for the NAIA Outdoor National Championships (May 22) where they finished in 7:42.14…All-Sun Conference performer in the 4x800m relay and the 1,500m, finishing first (7:53.79) and second (3:59.05), respectively…Academic All-Sun Conference and Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athlete selection.
2012-13: CROSS COUNTRY - First team All-Sun Conference runner…finished fourth overall at The Sun Conference Championship (Nov. 3) in 26:21.24…time of 25:09.41 at the Sand Shark Invite (Oct. 20) made him the sixth-fastest Eagle in school history…never finished lower than third on the Embry-Riddle squad…second ERAU finisher at the NAIA National Championship (Nov. 17) in a time of 26:41. INDOOR: Ran in six meets for the Blue and Gold…placed fourth in the mile (4:26.57) at the Florida Gator Invitational (Jan. 17)…won the 1000m in a “B” standard time of 2:32.69 at the ERAU Challenge (Jan. 20)…finished fourth in the 800m (2:00.52) and was a member of the 4x400m relay finishing in ninth… finished fourth and seventh in the mile and 800m respectively at the Jimmy Carnes Invitational (Jan. 27)… achieved the automatic qualifying time in the mile, running a 4:20.36 to finish 16th and hit a “B” standard finishing sixth in the distance medley relay at the Tiger Paw Invitational (Feb. 9)…achieved the automatic qualifying time in the 1000m, running a 2:30.30 to win the event at the ERAU Last Chance meet (Feb. 16)…competed in the 1000m at the NAIA Indoor Championships (March 2). OUTDOOR: Ran in eight meets for the Eagles…recorded a “B” standard in the 1500m with a time of 3:55.11 placing fourth at the USF Bulls Invite (March 15)…placed second in the 1500m in a “B” standard time of 3:55.86 at the UNF Invitational (March 30)…ran in the 4x400m and 4x800m relay finishing in fifth and second respectively at the ERAU Spikes Classic (April 6)… recorded an “A” standard and personal-record mark in the 1500m finishing third in 3:53.69 at the Seminole Invitational (March 13)…earned an All-Conference selection winning the 1500m (4:15.08) and finishing fifth in the 800m (2:00.49) at The Sun Conference Championships (April 22)…hit a qualifying standard and a college-best mark in the 1500m, finishing ninth in 3:52.76 at the Georgia Tech Invitational (May 11)…finished in 11th place in the 1500m with a time of 3:54.82 at the NAIA Outdoor National Championship (May 25)…named to the 2013 Academic All-Conference team.
2011-12: CROSS COUNTRY - Competed in five meets for Mike Rosolino and the Eagles…finished 19th overall at the USF Invitational (Sept. 9) in 26:39.20, a personal-best time…ran a 27:32 mark at the NAIA National Championships (Nov. 19), the fifth Eagle finisher in the race. INDOOR: Ran in both the distance medley relay and 1000m at the NAIA Indoor National Championships (March 3), with his DMR team posting a season-best time of 10:15.13…posted a 2:33.35 in the 1000m at the Tiger Paw Invitational (Feb. 11), placing him fifth amongst mostly NCAA I competition…his best mile time of the winter came at the Florida Gator Invitational (Jan. 22) when he ran a 4:30.90 to finish fifth overall. OUTDOOR: Part of the Eagles’ 4x800m relay team that finished fourth at the NAIA Outdoor National Championships (May 26), earning him and his teammates All-American honors…All-Sun Conference runner in both the 5000m (15:52.85) and the 1500m (4:01.22) at The Sun Conference Championships (May 23).
PREP: Graduated from Hoover High School in 2011…ran for four seasons under coach Travis Ackerman…first team All-Federal League during his junior and senior seasons…first team All-Stark County (2009-10)…Academic All-Ohio in 2010…served as his team’s captain during his senior campaign…helped his team win back-to-back Federal League titles in 2009 and 2010, while leading them to a fifth place finish in the region in both years.
PERSONAL: Born in Canton, Ohio on Jan. 12, 1993…son of Linda and Salvador Hernandez…majoring in Aerospace Engineering…member of the National Honor Society…volunteered his time at the Military Aviation Preservation Society and the Stark County Humane Society.
