Maxon also played three seasons of summer baseball in the Florida League (2011) and Northwoods League (2012-13)

Following his collegiate career, Maxon signed with the Amarillo Sox of the American Association of Independent Professional Baseball, playing the 2014 season with three different teams, compiling a 2.02 ERA in 21 games.

Maxon began his coaching career at Lake Mary Prep for the 2016 season where he was the varsity pitching coach and junior varsity head coach under Justin Varitek. During his stint at Lake Mary, the Griffins captured the 3A district title with the pitching staff posting a 3.10 team ERA.

During the 2017 summer, Maxon was the pitching coach for the St. Cloud Rox in the Northwoods League. Under his guidance, the Rox pitching staff combined to be the best in the league; posting a team ERA of 3.43 over 637 innings while also breaking the Northwoods League record for most strikeouts in a season with 643. The Rox culminated the season by winning the 2017 Northwoods League Championship in a best-of-three series against the Battle Creek Bombers.

Maxon was a three-year letterwinner at Oviedo High School. He was a second team all-conference selection after batting .302 with a 2-2 record on the mound, helping the Lions to a 6AFHSAA playoff appearance as a senior.
