Biography

After four seasons as a student-athlete, Evan Specht returns to Embry-Riddle tennis as an assistant coach for the men's and women's teams.

Specht lettered for the Eagles from 2003-2006 and during that time, he helped the Eagle men to four Florida Sun Conference regular season championships, three NAIA Region XIV titles, and four straight national tournament appearances.

The Boise, Idaho native posted a 64-28 career record, including a pair of 20-win seasons in 2002-03 (20-6) and 2004-05 (20-9). Heading into the spring 2006 season, Specht was 16th in the ITA rankings, but an early season injury kept him sidelined for much of his senior campaign. Despite the setback, he continued to motivate his teammates and his competitive nature and work ethic enabled him to rejoin the team for postseason play as the Eagles advanced all the way to the semifinal round at the NAIA national tournament.

"It's great to have Evan still a part of the program," Coach Paschal said. "He is a great emotional leader for the team and has a fierce competitive spirit. He also has served as a good mentor for many players and I think they look to him for many things. He is a very smart and crafty player and look forward to him teaching the younger guys how to win. Furthermore, he is a true team player and thrives in the team environment. I am very excited about Evan helping out with the program and finishing his degree."

Specht is currently working towards a degree in Aviation Business Administration.
