Percell Gaskins joined the Embry-Riddle track and field program as a volunteer assistant coach in the spring of 2019. He works primarily with the high jumpers.
Gaskins was a two-sport athlete at Kansas State where he competed for the track and field and football teams. In 1993, he claimed an NCAA I Indoor national title, winning the high jump with a leap of 2.26m.
The Ormond Beach, Florida native was also an All-American linebacker for the Wildcats and was one of seven finalists for Football News Defensive Player of the Year in 1995. He spent three seasons with the NFL after being taken in the fourth round of the 1996 NFL draft, playing for the St. Louis Rams from 1996-97 and the Carolina Panthers in 1998.
Outside the athletics arena, Gaskins has served as football coach at Garinger High School, as well as a parent advocate and a Behavior Modification Specialist at Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools.
Gaskins earned his bachelor's degree in Interdisciplinary Social Sciences and Sociology from Kansas State.
