Biography
Fall 2015: Won her first five singles matches of the season on the way to a 5-3 fall record…teamed up with Anna Götz for a 9-3 doubles record…after stumbling in the opening round, Huang and Götz won five consecutive matches to claim the doubles consolation title at the West Florida Fall Fling (Oct. 16-18).
As A Junior in 2014-15: NAIA First Team All-American…ITA All-American…The Sun Conference Player of the Year…part of The Sun Conference Doubles Team of the Year in partnership with Anna Götz…Capital One Academic All-America second team selection…NAIA All-America Scholar-Athlete…Academic All-Conference…turned in a 14-12 singles record, including a 10-8 mark in dual matches at the top spot in the lineup…scored the clinching point in four Eagle matches, including a 6-2, 6-1 win over Flagler’s Barbara Sebkova that helped her to league Player of the Week honors on Feb. 9…bested second-ranked Anastasia Baranova of Oklahoma Baptist 7-6 (4), 7-6 (4) on March 18…ranked 16th in the final ITA/NAIA singles poll…led the team in doubles wins (23), including a 15-4 mark in tandem with Götz…Huang and Götz were 6-0 in league play…the duo was ranked eighth in the final ITA/NAIA ranking of 2015….Fall 2014: Teamed up with Paula Ortiz Couder to win the USTA/ITA Florida regional title…the duo was 8-2 in fall play…earned a pair of three-set victories, including a 3-6, 6-3, 10-8 over 2013 regional champions Daniela Arcila and Maria Barragan to claim the regional crown…they dispatched Graceland’s Jessica Woring and Katherine Rodriguez 6-2, 6-3 to finish third at the USTA/ITA National Small College Championships…Huang was 4-4 in singles play with all four wins coming in regional play…finished as the regional runner-up…ranked 13th in the ITA/NAIA singles preseason poll.
As A Sophomore in 2013-14: ITA/NAIA National Doubles Champion…NAIA first team All-American…ITA All-American…first team All-Conference…part of The Sun Conference Doubles Team of the Year in partnership with Kristina Marova…ranked No. 15 in the final ITA/NAIA singles poll...ITA Scholar-Athlete…Academic All-Conference…named to the ERAU Athletics President’s Team, which recognizes student-athletes with a 3.5 or better GPA during the academic year…was 10-16 in singles…teamed up with Marova for a 26-7 doubles record, including a 7-0 mark in conference action…the duo went wire-to-wire as the top-ranked doubles team in the ITA/NAIA ratings. Fall 2013: Ranked ninth in the ITA/NAIA national singles poll…went 3-3 in singles play, including a 2-1 run in the USTA/IT Florida Regional tournament…downed Northwood’s Melanie Snowberger 6-1, 6-0 and Ivana Vlakic 6-7 (4-7), 6-2, 6-1 to advance to the regional tournament semis…partnered with Kristina Marova for a 8-1 doubles ledger…the duo is ranked No. 1 in the nation heading into spring play…lost a tough match (9-7) to 2013 regional doubles champions Maria Barragan and Daniela Arcila in the regional semifinals…the tandem earned an at-large bid to the USTA/ITA National Small College Championships and after topping St. Thomas’ Tetiana Kovalska and Gabriela Bongiovanni 6-4, 6-4 in the play-in match, they won three matches in three days to capture the 2013 ITA/NAIA national doubles crown.
As a Freshman in 2012-13: ITA/NAIA Rookie of the Year…NAIA first team All-American…ITA All-American in singles and doubles...first team All-Conference selection…named to the ERAU Athletics President’s team, which recognizes student-athletes with a 3.5 or better GPA for the academic year…finished the year ranked No. 8 in singles and No. 2 in doubles in tandem with Kristina Marova…turned in a 16-12 overall record and a 5-2 mark in Sun Conference matches…played primarily at the No. 1 and No. 2 singles spots, going 12-10 in dual match play…pulled out a three-set (6-2, 6-7 (2), 10-6) upset against second-ranked Tetiana Kovalska of St. Thomas (Mar. 7)…Huang and Marova were 19-11 as a doubles team…the duo closed out the season on a 3-0 winning streak, which included an 8-5 upset of Xavier‘s(La.) top-ranked team of Kourtney Howell and Brion Flowers (May 16).
Prep: 2011 graduate of National Shan-Hua Senior High School…helped her team to the semifinals of the 2009 and 2011 National High School Games…finished as the runner-up in singles competition at both the 2010 and 2011 National High School Games…2010 Nan Wing Cup Junior Championships Singles Winner…also finished as the runner-up in doubles in that tournament…achieved a No. 1 national ranking in the Taiwan Junior 18 and Under in 2010…ranked 12th overall in the Taiwan National rankings.
Personal: Born in Changhua,Taiwan on Feb. 17, 1992…daughter of Yo-Mao Huang and Su-Hsing Li…majoring in Aeronautical Science.
