Biography

Meghan Fairbrother joined the Eagle coaching staff in 2004 after a successful four-year career in an Embry-Riddle uniform. A fierce competitor, Fairbrother brings her competitive fire, her knowledge of the inner workings of Eagle soccer and a passionate desire to improve her alma mater team.

Fairbrother made an immediate impact when she joined the program as a freshman in 1999. She started in 18 matches and ended the season tied for fifth in goals scored and sixth in points.

After a successful freshman campaign Fairbrother made the transition from the midfield to the right side of the Eagles’ back line. She was an integral part of a defensive unit that allowed just 15 goals and recorded 13 shutouts in 2001. In 2002, with Fairbrother’s help, Embry-Riddle captured its first conference and regional titles and the Eagles made their debut appearance in a national tournament.

Shortly following, Fairbrother assumed the role of co-captain and helped guide the Eagles to two more conference and regional titles, as well as, another national championship appearance.
As a player, Fairbrother was a leader, making soccer a priority as opposed to social life and was never swayed by peer pressure, so the transition from player to coach was a relatively smooth one.

“With an established respect already developed between her and players she has been a significant help enabling some of the weight to be lifted off my shoulders in terms of dealing with some of the team issues” said Coach Blank. “She is going to be able to solve problems whether they are logistical or chemistry related becoming a good ally for both me and players alike.”

A testament to her desire to compete, Fairbrother also earned three letters as a member of Embry-Riddle’s tennis team, helping the Eagles to consecutive second place conference finishes as well as three national tournament appearances finishing fifth in 2004.

She is the only athlete in ERAU history to compete in NAIA championships in three capacities: soccer player, soccer coach, and tennis player.

Fairbrother completed her undergraduate degree in Aeronautical Science in May, 2004 and is currently pursuing a graduate degree in Human Factors.
