Nina Kontrec

After spending two seasons as Embry-Riddle’s starting libero, Nina Kontrec enters her second season as a graduate assistant coach for the Eagle volleyball team in 2013.

Kontrec came to ERAU in 2010 after playing two seasons at Florida State College at Jacksonville. She made quite an impact at Embry-Riddle from the moment she hit the court for the Blue and Gold. In her first home match, the fifth match of her career, Kontrec set a new ERAU single-match record with 42 digs in a 3-1 win over Wayland Baptist. By the end of the 2010 season, Kontrec had picked up a school-record 673 digs, shattering the previous record by 194 digs.

In the 2011 season, Kontrec continued her stellar defensive play, finishing 19th in the NAIA in digs/set (5.47), cementing her status as the school’s all-time career leader in digs/set with a two-year average of 5.43. Despite playing just two seasons at Embry-Riddle, Kontrec currently ranks third in program history with 1,319 digs.

Kontrec graduated from Embry-Riddle with a degree in Communication and is currently working towards completing a Master of Aviation Management degree.
