Orlando Catalan, Jr. joins the Embry-Riddle women's volleyball coaching staff as a volunteer assistant coach for the 2011 season. Catalan is currently working on earning a degree in Sports Management from Warner University in Lake Wales, Fla.
Catalan played for the Warner men's volleyball team from the fall of 2006 through the spring of 2011. He served as the team captain and starting setter in 2011, leading the Royals to a 16-7 record and a No. 5 NAIA National ranking at the conclusion of the season, the best finish in program history.
Catalan has also spent time coaching at the club level, serving as an assistant coach with the Orlando Gold 18-1s in 2008 and the head coach of the Orlando Gold 17-2s in 2009. He has also been an instructor at a number of collegiate volleyball camps, including NCAA I Florida, Michigan, USF, TCU, and Texas A&M.
Most recently, Catalan trained with SCC Berlin, a professional volleyball team that competes in the Bundesliga in Germany.
