Embry-Riddle Head Coach Lisa Wilson added Andrea Ayala as a volunteer assistant coach in the fall of 2023. Ayala brings a diverse background as a player, coach and administrator to the Eagles’ women’s basketball program.

Hailing from Fort Pierce, Florida, Ayala played two seasons of basketball at Daytona State College where she was tabbed as the Defensive Player of the Year in 2012-13 and was the recipient of the Coach’s Award in 2013-14. She later went on to play for the Orlando Boom, helping the team to the 2019 WBDA national title.

In 2019-20, Ayala was named the assistant women’s basketball coach at Johnson University (Fla.). A year later, she was elevated to head coach of the women’s program while serving as assistant athletic director and assistant coach for the Johnson men’s basketball team.

Ayala’s coaching resume also includes stops at Core Sports Academy and the Orlando Boom. At Core Sports Academy, she was a coach and manager of the after-school program designed to teach basketball and soccer to children in grades K-5. As an assistant coach for the Orlando Boom, Ayala was responsible for player development, scouting and preparing practice plans, and helped guide the team to another national title in 2022.

Ayala earned her undergraduate degree in Kinesiology from the University of Central Florida in 2018 and is currently a Doctor of Chiropractic student at Palmer College of Chiropractic.
