Pitcher/designated player Kassidy Simons has earned the Embry-Riddle Female Athlete of the Week honor for the week of March 7-13. This marks the second straight week Simons has earned the award. For the week, the freshman went 8-for-26 with two doubles, a home run, a walk, five runs scored and 10 RBIs. Simons opened the week with a complete game victory over American International on Monday, allowing just one run on eight hits with three strikeouts in ERAU's 4-1 game one victory. On Tuesday, Simons was a force in the circle and at the plate, tossing the program's first-ever no-hitter, allowing just one walk with six strikeouts, while also going 5-for-8 with two doubles, a home run, five runs scored and 10 RBIs in the doubleheader sweep of Fisher. Her seven RBIs in game two also set a new program single-game record. In ERAU's three-game series at Tampa over the weekend, Simons pitched a total of 23.2 innings in two starts, including a 15-inning complete game victory on Saturday.
