Pitcher/designated player Kassidy Simons has earned the Embry-Riddle Female Athlete of the Week honor for the week of Feb. 29-March 6. For the week, the freshman went 5-for-15 at the plate with a double, four walks, five hit-by-pitches, eight runs scored and three RBIs. She also went 4-0 in four starts, allowing 16 hits and three walks with 35 strikeouts in 26 innings of work. Simons opened the week with a complete game shutout in ERAU's 8-0 win over Concordia (Minn.) on Monday, allowing just two hits with nine strikeouts. She was also 1-for-2 with a double, three walks, three hit-by-pitches and five runs scored in the doubleheaders sweep of the Cobbers. On Wednesday, Simons picked up another win, going six shutout innings in a 6-1 win over Ferris State. At the plate against the Bulldogs, Simons went 3-for-5 with a run scored and two RBIs. In the weekend series against Florida Southern, Simons registered two more complete game victories, allowing three runs on 11 hits with two walks and 20 strikeouts in her 14 innings of work against the Mocs.
