Sophomore pitcher/first baseman Kassidy Simons has earned the Embry-Riddle Female Athlete of the Week honor for the week of March 6-12. This marks the fourth time in her career that Simons has earned the award. For the week, the freshman went 4-0 in the circle, earning wins over Mount Olive, Lander and twice against Florida Southern. Simons tossed a total of 25 innings, allowing just two runs (one earned) on 16 hits, striking out 18 and walking just one. At the plate, Simons went 8-for-23 with a home run, six RBIs and three runs scored. Her best game of the week came against Mount Olive, where she went 2-for-3 with a home run and four RBIs and pitched a five-inning complete-game one-hit shutout.
