DAYTONA BEACH, FLA. - The Embry-Riddle men's tennis team lost a golden opportunity to gain their first win in 2004 against an NCAA Division I opponent when they lost 5-4 against Radford University.
The Eagles started the match by sweeping doubles and the ninth win of the season looked to be a certainty. Unfortunately, the Highlanders rallied behind second and third singles and won five of the six remaining matches to walk away with the win.
Costin Corneanu (Targoviste, Romania) was the lone singles point for the Eagles as he defeated Brandon Johnson 6-4, 6-4. Corneanu is currently 11-0 in dual matches and three wins shy of his third straight 20-win season.
Embry-Riddle falls to 8-4 on the season and will host Shorter College tomorrow at Noon.
