LAKE WALES, Fla. --?Embry-Riddle University women's volleyball head coach Joslynn Gallop?keeps adding to the list of achievments in her first season with the Eagles posting?the sixth?20-win season in the history of the program after a 3-0 road victory (30-16, 30-23, 30-17) against Warner Southern (Fla.) Saturday afternoon.
The remarkable turnaround from a 3-30 season continues to grow as?Embry-Riddle now stands at 20-7 overall and 6-2 in the Florida Sun Conference trailing Savannah College of Art and Design and Flagler who both have one loss with 10-1 and 8-1 marks, respectively.
The Eagles, who have?defeated Flagler twice this season in a non-conference match 3-2 and a 3-0?in the first conference meeting in Daytona,?travel to St. Augustine on Tuesday, Oct. 18 in the rematch with the Saints at 7 p.m.
Against?Warner Southern, the Eagles were in control of the match from the start jumping out to a quick 10-3 advantage in the first game and expanded the margin to 18-9 midway through game and cruised to a 30-16 victory.? Junior outside hitter Janelle Marinos led the ERAU charge with nine kills and a .692 hitting percentage in the game.? She finished the day leading all hitters with 18 kills, while adding 11 digs, three service aces and hit .282 for the match.
The Eagles were strong at the net with 17 block assists led by freshmen Marissa Gonzales and Jenni Nelsen posting four apiece.? Gonzales also added five service aces and 34 assists.
Ashell Curtiss added six kills with a strong .417 hitting percentage, while Daniela Brazolino?recorded seven kills and hit .263 with three assists and nine digs.
Before heading to Flagler, the Eagles will host St. Francis (Ill.)?on Monday, Oct. 17?at 7 p.m.
