Eagle Volleyball Downs Southeastern (Fla.) 3-0

LAKELAND, Fla. - Janelle Marinos (Three Rivers, Calif.) recorded 25 kills and hit .340 for the match, while setter Marissa Gonzales (Littleton, Colo.) added 41?assists ?to lead the Eagles to a 3-0 victory? (30-17, 30-28, 30-27) at Southeastern (Fla.) Tuesday evening.

After even play early in the first game tied at 6-6, ERAU (18-6) went on a 16-2 run to build a commanding 22-8 lead behind a strong block from Mia Jaramillo and Marinos wth three and two block assists, respectively.? The Eagles closed out the game 30-17.

In the second Marinos recorded 10 kills, but the Blue and Gold had to come from behind to win after trailing 26-21.? Jennifer MacRae (Homosassa, Fla.) recorded two kills, while Jenni Nelsen (Titusville, Fla.)?and Marinos added kills in a 7-0 run to claim a 28-26 lead.? MacRae made it 29-27 and then Nelsen put the match away with her kill 30-28.

Despite leading 21-14 in the fiinal game the Eagles nearly relinquished the lead when Southeastern (17-3) closed the gap to 27-26, but ERAU scored three of the next four points to win 30-27.? Marinos had another strong game with 10 kills and a .318 hitting percentage.?

Nancy Salb (Boise, Idaho) led the Eagles with 11 digs and Nelsen added 10.

The Eagles return to action on Friday, Oct. 7?in a showdown for first-place in the Florida Sun Conference against No. 16 Savannah College of Art and Design (Ga.) in the ICI Center at 7 p.m.
