ERAU Volleyball Pulls Out 3-2 Victory at Webber International

BABSON PARK, Fla. - Jenni Nelsen recorded a career-high 31 digs and April Ebanks finished 20 kills including six in the deciding game to post a 3-2 (28-30, 17-30, 30-25, 30-26, 15-13) comeback victory at Webber International Tuesday night in Florida Sun Conference action.

The Eagles (16-13 overall, 10-2 FSC) fell behind 2-0, but battled back behind the defense of Nelsen who recorded 22 of her 31 digs in the final three games, while Ebanks had 14 of her 20 kills and seven of her nine blocks in the match. Rachel Ridder was also tracking every ball finishing with 23 digs. 

ERAU jumped out to an 8-2 lead in the final game, but Webber International made the Eagles work for it battling back to tie the game at 11-11.  Embry-Riddle scored the next two points on kills by Savannah Trakes and Ebanks to pull ahead 13-11.  After service error by the Blue and Gold, Ebanks teed off on a set by Marissa Gonzales hitting straight down on the Webber defense.  Gonzales finished with 51 assists and 10 digs. 

WIU's Cindy Eurie followed with an impressive strike of her own down the line to trim the Eagle lead to 14-13, but Ebanks put it away with her final kill.  Eurie recorded a match-high 24 kills and added 15 digs for Webber International which drops to 13-7 overall and 6-4 in the FSC.

In the fourth, ERAU trailed 16-6, but closed the gap to 19-17 with a 10-3 run and later tied the game at 23-23 on an Ebanks kill.  The teams traded points remaining tied at 26-26, but the Blue and Gold reeled off the final four points to tie the match at 2-2 with a 30-26 victory.  Nelsen started the run for the Eagles with a kill and then Gonzales registered a service ace, before two Warrior attack errors closed out the game.

Embry-Riddle is idle until they host former FSC foe Flagler College on Wednesday, Nov. 1st at 7 p.m. in the ICI Center and then close out the regular season by hosting Edward Waters on Friday, Nov. 3 at 7 p.m. and Savannah College of Art and Design on Saturday, Nov. 4 at 12 p.m.
