TITUSVILLE, Fla. - Both the Embry-Riddle men and women's cross country squads were edged out by the University of Miami at the Florida Runners Invitational to place second in their respective events on Friday, October 5.
The women's squad scored two more points than Miami on Friday, with 46 points. Noelle Niblack came in first for the Eagles, crossing the finish line in fifth at 19:36. She was followed by Alex Salinas who took seventh (19:43), Beth McCubbin placed tenth (19:53), Lori Costello in at fifteenth (20:13), and twenty-first place finisher Jen Haydt (20:49), all of whom scored points for the team. Emily Cook, Francesca Martino and Kimber Wille rounded out the ERAU finishers at 21:21, 21:37 and 23:42 respectively.
In down pouring rain Nick Gehlsen led the Eagles, crossing the line in fifth place overall at 27:11.65. He trailed four Miami runners, which led to the Hurricane's victory, as ERAU had the fifth, seventh, eighth, and the tenth through thirteenth place finishers. Henry Melius was the second Eagle to finish, he was in at 27:15. Jarett Woodbury came in at 27:23. The top finishers were rounded out by Evan Clay (27:28), Laurent Williams (27:32), Stuart Patterson (27:34) and Russell Snyder (27:38).
