Embry-Riddle Registers Second Straight Shutout With 9-0 Win Over NCAA I St. Louis

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. ? Top-ranked junior Mislav Hizak led the fourth-ranked Embry-Riddle men's tennis team to a 9-0 shutout of NCAA I St. Louis, Saturday at the Crotty Tennis Complex. The victory put the Eagles, who are on a 12-match winning streak, improved their record to 13-1, while Billikens fall to 4-8.

Hizak, who is undefeated in dual match play at 11-0 this season, blanked Felipe Acosta 6-0, 6-0 to improve his record to 25-1. The win also marked the fourth time Hizak has bageled his opponent this year.

The Eagles swept through doubles as Hizak partnered with fellow-junior Konstantin Lazarov to top Paul Feder and Sean McManus 8-3, and Carlos Bes Comeras and Istvan Bolgar downed P.J. Hendrie and Acosta 8-4. Tomoaki Yasuda and Luke Maricic extended their unbeaten streak to 14-0 with an 8-1 win over Adam Reeb and Marcus Fadul.

Bes Comeras finished his singles match first after shutting out Hendrie 6-0, 6-0 at No. 3 singles.

Lazarov extended the Eagle advantage to 6-0, downing McManus 6-2, 6-0 at the second position to remain unbeaten at 12-0, followed by Yasuda who got a 6-3, 6-2 win over Fadul at No. 4 to notch his 12th win of the year.

Bolgar defeated Feder 6-3, 6-1 at No. 5 and Maricic closed out the match with a 6-4, 6-2 win over Matt Gordon.

The Eagles return to the court at 2 p.m. on Tuesday when they host No. 6 Vanguard (Calif.).
