Eagle Men Take Top Spot At Tampa Invitational, Women Place Third

Tampa, Fla. - For the second time this season the Embry Riddle men's cross country team placed first at a 2007 invitational, this time at the Tampa Invitational hosted by the University of Tampa on Friday, Sept. 14. The Eagle women place third overall, behind the host school and Florida Southern.

Three of the five top runners were from ERAU, led by sophomore Nick Gehlsen who took first overall, in at 21:32. Stuart Patterson was not far behind Gehlsen, placing second crossing the finish line seven seconds later. Rounding out the top five was Will Quinn, who in his second race as an Eagle has placed in both races in the top five overall. The final two point scorers for the Eagles were Russell Snyder and Laurent Williams in at 22:18 and 22:19 respectively.

The Eagle women were led by Beth McCubbin who came in sixth overall at 19:49.0. Alex Salinas marked an eleventh place finish in at 20:16, with Noelle Niblack finishing just eight seconds later in thirteenth place. Lori Costello and Katrina Morgan both finished for ERAU, at 21:16 and 22:38. It was Morgan's first race after having a decorated career on as a women's soccer player.

The Smoothie King/ERAU Invitational will be held in Daytona Beach, hosted by the Eagles on Saturday, September 22. Races will begin at 7:30 a.m.
