DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. ? The eighth-ranked Embry-Riddle women's tennis team earned its second win in a row, topping 10th-ranked Southern Nazarene 7-2 on Tuesday. The Eagles are now 7-3 on the year and the Crimson Storm now stands at 3-3.
ERAU won two of three doubles points as Natasa Zoricic and Hana Im downed Isabella Bauer and Dasha Ivanova 8-5 at No. 1 and Natalie Anaya and Lindsey Kurtz blanked Sara Byrne and Steffi Plaza 8-0. The Crimson Storm got a point back at No. 3 as Heather Parnell and Brooke Brantley held off Marga Rico Jimenez and Sara Abraúl 8-6 at the third spot.
Rico Jimenez made quick work of Parnell with a 6-0, 6-0 victory at the No. 5 singles position, recording her first shutout of the season. Zoricic was close behind with a 6-2, 6-1 win over Bauer at No. 1 and Abraúl clinched the Eagle win with a 6-2, 6-2 win over Brantley at No. 6.
Kurtz topped Plaza 6-1, 6-3 at No. 4 and Im downed Ivanova 6-3, 6-4 to seal the win.
SNU's only singles point came at the No. 3 spot where Byrne edged Anaya in a three-set battle 2-6, 6-4, 10-5.
The Eagles play their last match before spring break at 10 a.m. on Wednesday when they take on Oklahoma Christian at the Crotty Tennis Complex.
