Men's Cross Country Journal #1

With the preseason behind us, the team is looking great, and our running isn't doing too badly either. We're all excited for the season to begin, but before it does we'll take a moment to reflect upon what brought us to this point. For some of us the 2008 Cross Country Season started in May, for others it began August 8 when we reported to school, and the rest are still trying to figure out how to tie their Velcro bowling shoes. As for our opening time trial, we are finally proud to say that ALL of our men can outrun all of our women. Not only this but we set a new record for our men's team average.

Team camp in South Carolina flew by this year. Here are the highlights:
    -Michael Phelps is the man
-the freshmen fit in perfectly
    -the freshmen can't follow directions
-the freshmen learned they can't beat the upperclassmen/coaches at basketball
-the freshmen managed to get lost for an hour on a simple out and back run
-Coach Hopfe ran longer than anyone else (but not farther)
    -we watched the Olympics
-Rick blew everyone out of the water on the graduation run
-Coach Rosolino lost at spades for the first time ever
    -Michael Phelps is the man

Since camp, classes have started and we have become reacquainted with early morning practice. More intense workouts and beach volleyball have been keeping us busy while we wait for our first meet to roll around (oh yeah, and we've been “studying”). Our first meet is scheduled for this weekend at UCF but hurricane Hannah/Ike/Josephine might have something to say about that. We'll let you know how it turns out. Until then, stay classy.
