Eagle Men Defeat Georgetown (Ky.), 8-1

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. ? The Embry-Riddle men's tennis team notched its ninth victory of the season after defeating Georgetown (Ky.) on Monday. The win improved the Eagles' record to 9-2, while the Tigers fell to 0-3 on the year.

The third-ranked Eagles jumped out to a quick 1-0 lead when Istvan Bolgar and Peter Francis handed Carlos Del Valle and Frankie Roberts an 8-2 defeat at No. 3 doubles. The Eagle lead grew to 3-0 heading into singles play when Jan Hoekzema and Carlos Bes Comeras topped Miguel Reyes and Paul Ganeu at No. 1 and Adrian Bayh and Charlie Rice downed Eugenis Aspilla and Matias Carcamo at No. 2.

Playing at the No. 3 spot for the fourth time this season, Francis' day on the courts came to an early end. He went up 4-0 in the first set, but was unable to play out the match as his opponent, Aspilla, was forced to retire due to injury.

The match at the second spot also came to an early end as Hoekzema also retired, giving the Tigers their only point on the day.

Bes Comeras ended up recording the clinching win at No. 1 singles with an easy 6-0, 6-0 decision against Reyes.

The Eagles breezed through the remaining singles contest with Zander-Woodford Smith and Bolgar posting 6-0, 6-0 wins over Del Valle and Roberts, respectively, and Rice defeating Ganeu in straight sets 6-3, 6-1.
