ROME, Ga. - The Embry-Riddle Eagles Men's Cross Country team participated in the 2011 Southeast Classic on Saturday morning, finishing eighth out of 34 total teams. The event, hosted by Berry University, was won by Eagle
Evans Kirwa. The junior has now won five of the six races ERAU has ran in this season.
In 2010, Kirwa ran the Embry-Riddle all-time fastest time at the Southeast Classic. In 2011, Kirwa was just 11 seconds off his pace from last year, finishing in 24:17.89 (the fourth fastest mark in ERAU program history). Kirwa ran 54 seconds faster than the second-place finisher, Ignacio Fernandez from SCAD SAvannah. The reigning NAIA National Runner of the Week now owns more than half of the top-20 times in school history.
Zach Kraus was the second Eagle finisher in 25:52.71. It marked Kraus' fastest-ever time, and it was also his highest team finish of the season.
Next for the Blue and Gold was
Alex Frazier in 27th place. Frazier's time of 26:23.32 was his second-fastest 8K time of the 2011 season.
Patrick Clare (27:36.12) and
Joshua Guerrero (27:40.21) rounded out the Eagle's top five, while
Jacob Dordick (27:43.63) and
