KENOSHA, Wis. The Embry-Riddle men's cross country team closed out a remarkable 2025 season on Saturday at the NCAA II National Championship hosted by the University of Wisconsin–Parkside. This marked the program's fourth appearance at the national meet and its first since 2022. After 10 kilometers of competition against the nation's best, the Blue and Gold placed 31st in the 34-team field.
Rylan Malarchick delivered the team's performance of the day, leading the Eagles for the first time this season while recording a 55-second personal best. His time also ranks as the 12th-fastest 10K in program history. The familiar pairing of
Nicholas Scarangelli and
Taye Newman followed in 32:15.9 and 32:25.9, respectively. Scarangelli showed resilience, battling back after an early fall in the opening mile.
Senior
Ethan Stout and freshman
Henry Friedrichs rounded out the scoring five. The Eagles capped the year with a gritty performance and now turn their attention to 2026. With four of the top five and five of the seven championship runners returning, Embry-Riddle brings back one of the youngest and most promising cores in the region.
Head coach
Mike Rosolino praised his team's performance and progress throughout the year, saying, "Guys had a great season and I'm really proud of them. We were all hoping to finish higher today but I'm proud of our effort. We got out to race today and put ourselves in the top 20 for the first half of the race. In the end, five of our seven had a season best 10k, I believe all seven were faster through 8k today than they ran for 8k up here in September and most had their all time PR for 10k. I can't ask for anything more from this group. Their hard work paid off all year this year."
