AT A GLANCE
The Eagles open up Sun Conference play on Wednesday when they host Florida Memorial in the ICI Center. The teams appear to be heading in opposite directions with the Blue and Gold on a five-game winning streak while the Lions have dropped their last three contests (all NCAA II opponents).

WHAT TO WATCH FOR
The Eagles have won seven games this season by an average of 14.8 points. However, Embry-Riddle has won three of their last four by five points or less. The last three matchups between the Lions and Eagles have been decided by a total of five points, all three going FMU's way. Of the most recent 15 contests the Sun Conference rivals have played, only two were won by double-digits.

SCOUTING FLORIDA MEMORIAL
Head Coach Kenny Bellinger, now in his 10th season with the Lions, brings his team to Daytona Beach with a point to prove. Florida Memorial was picked last in The Sun Conference in the 2012-13 Coaches' Preseason Poll after going 3-13 in league play a year ago.

The Lions average 74.2 points per game and 42 percent from the field, while their opponents score 77.4 points and shoot 48 percent from the floor. Junior Adrian White paces the Lions with 16.4 points per contest. He's joined in double-figures by three teammates: Adam Braswell (14.2 ppg), Bryan Portillo (12.8 ppg) and Michael Baptiste (11.4 ppg).

LAST GAME: Embry-Riddle Escapes Brewton-Parker in 78-73 Nail-biter
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - The NAIA II No. 16 Embry-Riddle Eagles escaped with their second five-point victory in as many days on Saturday evening, emerging with an exciting, 78-73 comeback win over NAIA I Brewton-Parker (Ga.) in the ICI Center. The Blue and Gold improve to 7-1 overall, stretching their winning streak to five games, while the Barons drop to 1-6.

The Eagles trailed by 12 with just over 10 minutes to play, but the hosts would go on to outscore BPC 30-13 the rest of the way to send Brewton-Parker to their fifth consecutive defeat.

MATTER OF REVENGE
The Lions won just three games in conference play last season...two of them came against Embry-Riddle. The Eagles have lost three straight to Florida Memorial, and will look to rectify that on Wednesday night. The Eagles had never lost two consecutive to FMU until this current skid.

CAN'T LOOK AHEAD
NAIA II No. 1 Northwood comes to town on Saturday, but the Eagles can't look past the Lions. Last season, the Florida Memorial games came before Northwood and The Sun Conference Tournament...both contests ending in Eagle losses.

SECOND-MOST PLAYED OPPONENT IN EAGLE HISTORY
Only the Webber International Warriors (56) have played the Eagles more than Florida Memorial (53). The first game was played on Jan. 23, 1990, a 95-72 win for the Lions, as did the next contest on Feb. 13, 1990. However, the second game was eventually recorded as a forfeit win for the Eagles. Embry-Riddle won nine straight from Feb. 24, 1996 to Jan. 22, 2000, but just a few weeks later, the Lions delivered a 92-85 setback to ERAU, their second-to-last loss during the 2000 season...Embry-Riddle eventually went on to win the NAIA II National Championship.

EAGLE SUCCESS IN CONFERENCE OPENERS
Head Coach Steve Ridder and the Eagles are 18-4 all-time in conference openers and 6-1 against Florida Memorial in conference openers. In fact, the Blue and Gold has faced FMU more than any other league opponent in conference openers. The lone lose for ERAU against the Lions to open up conference play came in 2003 when FMU won 72-66 in Opa Locka.

MOVING ON UP
The Eagles, ranked 16th in the NAIA II Preseason Coaches' Poll, will almost assuredly move up in the rankings that are set to be released later today. The Eagles were placed second in The Sun Conference by the league rater, behind only Northwood and ahead of NAIA II No. 10 Warner.

EMBRY-RIDDLE ALUMNI - DAYTONA BEACH CHAPTER
Wednesday's game will be the Embry-Riddle Alumni - Daytona Beach chapter night in the ICI Center. All Embry-Riddle alumni that live in the Daytona Beach area are invited to attend. CLICK HERE for more information.

CENTURY MARK...CHECK
DeForest Carter became the first Eagle to reach 100 points this season, doing so in last Saturday's win over Brewton-Parker. With five points, fellow sophomore Cesar Pastrana would join Carter in the century club.

QUARTER CENTURY OF EAGLE BASKETBALL
The 2012-13 season marks the 25th edition of Eagle basketball and Embry-Riddle athletics overall. The basketball, baseball, men's tennis and men's golf programs began in the 1988-89 academic year and were the foundation the rest of the department was built upon.

Embry-Riddle is 562-235 in 24 seasons, capturing eight conference regular season titles, nine conference tournament titles, claiming 17 NAIA All-America honors, 15 Honorable Mention All-American honors and reaching the pinnacle of NAIA basketball in 2000 when the Eagles won the NAIA II National Championship.
