LAKELAND, Fla. – The NAIA No. 14 Embry-Riddle volleyball team dropped a non-conference match on the road at NCAA II Florida Southern on Friday night, 3-0 (25-17, 25-23, 25-23). The loss marks just the ninth 3-0 sweep that the Eagles have suffered since the beginning of the 2009 season, a stretch of 157 matches.

With the loss, ERAU drops to 11-6 on the season while FSC improves to 11-4.

The Eagles fell behind early in the first set, as Florida Southern used an 8-3 run to jump ahead, 14-9. After back-to-back points for Embry-Riddle pulled the Eagles to within three at 14-11, the Blue and Gold couldn't string together consecutive points for the rest of the set, dropping the opener, 25-17.

FSC ran out to 5-1 lead in the second set, but the Eagles rallied back to draw even at 8-8 on a block from Morgan Shattuck and Jennifer Beatty. After the Mocs took a 14-10 lead, Embry-Riddle scored three straight to trim the deficit to a single point, but the Blue and Gold couldn't quite pull even. ERAU pulled within a point three more times in the set, but Florida Southern was able to withstand the pressure, escaping with a 25-23 win in the second set to take a 2-0 lead.

Shattuck put down a kill on the opening point of the third set to put the Eagles in front for the first time in the match. A kill from Emily Jacobson put Embry-Riddle ahead, 8-7, which would prove to be the final lead of the set for ERAU. Florida Southern rallied back to take a 15-11 lead before a 3-0 Eagle run made it 15-14. The Mocs regained a four-point lead at 19-15 but Embry-Riddle kept pushing, eventually drawing even at 21-21 after a 6-2 run that was keyed by back-to-back Beatty kills. FSC scored the next two points, but a timeout from ERAU Head Coach Joslynn Gallop stemmed the tide and allowed the Blue and Gold to fight back with kills from Beatty and Jacobson to knot things up at 23-all. Florida Southern Head Coach Jill Stephens called a timeout at that point and the Mocs rallied back to take the next two points, cementing a 25-23 win in the third set to complete the 3-0 sweep.

Beatty led the Eagles with nine kills to go along with nine digs, while Jacobson and Shattuck each tallied seven kills. Hannah Gray led the defense with a match-high 18 digs and Caitlyn Ballard chipped in with 13 digs. Tamires Ferreira racked up a team-leading 25 assists and picked up 10 digs and four kills.

Kayshia Brady led the Mocs with match-highs in kills (11), hitting percentage (.450) and blocks (5 – 2 solo). Dominique Hale added nine kills while Brindl Langley tallied eight.
