No. 6 Eagles 11th After First Round of Cincinnati Spring Invite

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The sixth-ranked Embry-Riddle women's golf team is tied for 11th after the first round of the University of Cincinnati Spring Invite in Crystal River, Fla.

The Eagles fired a 315 in round one at the Plantation Inn and Resort, led by senior Connie Pitenis who carded a 75 (37-38) and is tied for 10thBea Serra was eight-over par on the front nine with a 44, but fired a one-under par 35 on the back nine for a 79.

Pia Jenko shot 40 on both the front and back nine for an 80, while MacKenzie Cunningham finished one stroke back with an 81 (40-41). Heather Wiquist rounded out the scoring with an 83 (38-45).
Charlotte Orren and Sophie Olley each competed as individuals and carded identical 84's each firing 42 on both the front and back nine.

Bradley University leads the event by one stroke over Florida Southern (303) after firing a first round 302. The host Bearcats are two strokes back with a first round 304 while Xavier (306), North Dakota St. (307), Florida Gulf Coast (307) and Seminole St. (307) round out the top five.

“The wind and greens provided a new challenge for us today,” said ERAU Head Coach Maria Loopy. “We battled hard and hope to make a move tomorrow. It's a very challenging course and a tough field, but we are capable of a top five finish.”

The Eagles will begin round two tomorrow on the back nine, beginning with Orren at 8:30 a.m.
