Men's Cross Country Extends Win Streak at Charles Bowles Invitational

SALEM, Ore. – No. 10 Embry-Riddle men's cross country won its fourth consecutive meet on Saturday, finishing first at the 40th Annual Charles Bowles Invitational.
 
The meet, which was hosted be NCAA III Willamette University, was broken down into two races; the "Cardinal" race was made up of NCAA I, II, and III programs, while the "Gold" race consisted of NAIA, NJCAA, and club teams.  The Eagles bested five other teams ranked in the NAIA Men's Cross Country Coaches' Top 25 Poll in the men's "Gold" race, including No. 5 British Columbia, and No. 11 Lewis-Clark State.
 
"It was an exciting day for the guys", said Embry-Riddle head coach Mike Rosolino.  "It was good to compete against some of the best teams in the country and see where we stand."
 
The Blue and Gold had three harriers finish in the top ten individually: Alec Hernandez (24:42.69), Paul McKenna (24:59:00), and Andrew Carpenter (25:20.31).  Keneth J Pineiro-Collazo (25:33.04) and Vincent Bett (25:50.81) rounded out the Eagle scorers.  Hernandez, McKenna, Carpenter, and Pineiro-Collazo all set personal records with their times on Saturday.
 
The Eagles' other competitors included Matt Graves (26:04.58), Ryan Larson (26:15.40), Jacob Dordick (26:38.73), and Jamin Mays (27:31.68).
 
ERAU scored 61 points to lock up the top spot in the team standings.  British Columbia (69), Lewis-Clark (71), Eastern Oregon (89), and the UO Running Club (161) made up the rest of the top five.
 
The Eagles will return to action next weekend when they travel upstate to Tallahassee to compete in the Florida State Invitational on Oct. 11.
