@ERAUVolleyball Douses Fire in 3-0 Sweep

LAKELAND, Fla. - Evelina Abdurakhmanova paced the Eagles with 16 kills to lead an attack that hit at a .375 clip, leading the Blue and Gold to a 3-0 (25-14, 25-21, 25-8) sweep at Southeastern on Tuesday night. The Eagles now stand at 17-9 and 11-1 in conference while the Fire are 15-12 and 6-6 in league contests.

Embry-Riddle never trailed in the first set, taking a comfortable 11-4 lead after scoring seven straight points. The Eagles were not tested for the rest of the frame, cruising to a 25-14 win.

The Fire held leads of 2-1 and 3-2 in the second set, but those would prove to be the only two times that SEU was ahead at any point in the match. ERAU slowly built a five-point lead (17-12) before Southeastern put up five straight points, including a pair of Lydia Rooth aces, to tie the set at 17. Cheye-Anne Savage stemmed the tide with a kill and the Eagles regained the momentum from that point, pulling away for a 25-21 win in set two.

The Blue and Gold jumped out to a 6-1 lead in set three and grew the margin to 14-3 relatively quickly. The Fire couldn't gain any traction and ERAU ran away with the third frame, 25-8.

Tamires Ferreira racked up 31 assists, six digs, three kills and three service aces, while Hannah Gray tallied 16 digs.

Carol Reis led the Fire with eight kills while Alyssa Prescott collected 16 assists and four different players picked up a team-high seven digs.

The Eagles return home to face Northwood on Thursday, Nov. 6 in another Sun Conference battle. First serve is slated for 7 p.m.
