BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Embry-Riddle women's tennis team closed out its two-match road trip with a tough 7-2 loss to NCAA II No. 6 Lynn at the Perper Tennis Complex on Saturday. The Eagles moved to 3-3 on the year, while the Fighting Knights ran their record to a perfect 10-0 in 2014. ERAU is now 1-2 against ranked NCAA II opponents.

The Fighting Knights began the day by winning all three doubles points. Paola Montero and Anna Götz wound up on the wrong side of an 8-1 decision against Rosalie Willig and Andrea Berkova on court two, as did Kristina Marova and Hui-I Huang, who fell to the fifth-ranked pair of Vale Confalonieri and Ioana Ivan on court one. Lynn's Kim Preszlowski and Alina Jane completed the sweep with an 8-4 win over the freshman tandem of Paula Ortiz Couder and Eva Vilar to give Lynn a 3-0 leading heading into singles play.

Lynn got singles wins from the top three players in their lineup beginning with 11th-ranked Ivan's 6-1, 6-2 win against Marova at the third spot. Confalonieri, ranked No. 1 in the NCAA II singles rankings, clinched the victory with a 6-2, 6-0 defeat of Huang on court one. The only other match to be played in full sets was at No. 2 singles where Willig bested Götz 6-1, 6-3.

With the team outcome already decided, officials agreed to play eight-game pro sets for the remaining three singles contests. The format favored the Eagles who took two of the three matches as Montero downed Jane 8-6 at No. 5 and Ortiz Couder held off Przeszlowski 8-6 at No. 6. The final match went to No. 21 Berkova who bested Vilar 8-2 on court four.

The Eagles will play an exhibition match against Florida State College at Jacksonville on Tuesday before hosting Cumberland at 3:30 p.m. on March 14 at the Crotty Tennis Complex.
