DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The sixth-ranked Embry-Riddle women's tennis team suffered a tough loss against eighth-ranked NCAA II opponent Saint Leo (13-3) on Wednesday, falling 6-3 at the Crotty Tennis Complex. The Eagles' record is now 7-5 for the overall season.
 
 The Eagles got an early two points when Saint Leo defaulted at No. 6 doubles and No. 3 singles. The No. 1 doubles team of Kristina Marova and Hui-I Huang fought hard but eventually fell to NCAA II Laura Kemkes and Pauline Helgesson, 8-5. Anna Götz and Paola Montero were the second doubles team to compete against the Lions, working against Saint Leo's Maria Benkirane and Anatastia Wagner, but the ERAU pair posted a loss of 8-2 to finish the women's doubles competition.
 
During the singles competition, Huang had a tough match against Coralie Pesenti at No. 1 singles. After losing the first set 6-1, she fought back to win the second set 6-2, but fell to Pesenti 6-1 in the third.
 
Götz took on Kemkes at No. 2 singles, but Kemkes was able to get the better of the matchup, downing Götz 6-2, 6-0.
 
Marova was able to hold off Benkirane in the first set on court three, 6-2, but Benkirane was able to solidify a win against Marova, taking the next two sets 6-2, 6-2.
 
Ortiz Couder carried a 5-1 lead over Wagner and posted a win when Wagner retired due to injury.
 
The final women's singles matchup featured sophomore Meena Bennett against Leo's Pauline Helgesson. Helgesson wrapped up the Lions sixth point by tallying 6-2, 6-2 over Bennett.
 
The Eagles will return to conference play on Thursday, April 4^th to take on the Warriors of Webber International at 1 p.m.
