LAKE WALES, Fla. – The sixth-ranked Embry-Riddle women's team tennis captured the 2014 Sun Conference regular season title with a 9-0 shutout of Warner on Thursday afternoon. The Eagles (13-5) closed out the regular season undefeated in conference play at 7-0 on the way to the program's fifth conference regular season crown.

The Eagles only lost five games in doubles play. Hui-I Huang and Kristina Marova bested Nhatalia Ocampo and Monique Frandji 8-3 at the top spot, while Anna Götz and Paola Montero downed Fernanda Correa and Paula Garcia 8-1 on court two, and Eva Vilar and Paula Ortiz Couder topped Claudia Sequera and Caitlyn Ryan 8-1 at the third position.

Playing in the final regular season match of her college career, Montero, collected the Eagles' first singles point with a 6-0, 6-0 shutout of Ryan at the No. 5 spot. Next to Montero on court four, Vilar secured the victory for the Eagles by downing Sequera 6-0, 6-1.

At No. 6 singles, Ortiz Couder earned her fifth shutout of the year with a 6-0, 6-0 defeat of Cindy Prieto, while Huang bested Ocampo 6-2, 6-2, and Götz beat Frandji 6-0, 6-3. The final match off the court was at the No. 3 spot where Marova won her second three-setter in two days, downing Correa 6-3, 4-6, 10-2.

By winning the conference title, the Eagles will be the No. 1 seed in the six-team Sun Conference tournament, which takes place April 17-19 at Embry-Riddle's Crotty Tennis Complex. Match times and pairings are to be determined.
