MOBILE, Ala. – The Embry-Riddle women's tennis team will be playing in its fourth consecutive national tournament quarterfinal on Thursday. The fifth-seeded Eagles advanced courtesy of a 5-0 win over 12th-seeded Graceland (15-4) at the Mobile Tennis Center on Wednesday morning. The Eagles improved their overall record to 16-5 and will take on fourth-seeded and defending national champion Auburn Montgomery in quarterfinal action at 9 a.m. (CST) on Thursday.

The Eagles' first point of the day came at No. 1 doubles where the top-ranked tandem of Kristina Marova and Hui-I Huang dispatched Amy Haberthier and Fatima Zahra El Otmany 8-2. Next off the court was the Eagles' third-flight doubles team of Paula Ortiz Couder and Eva Vilar who downed Jesssica Worring and Ilse Karina Cardiel 8-3. On court two, Paola Montero and Anna Götz completed the doubles sweep for ERAU with their 8-4 defeat of Sofia Jaramillo and Melynda Simmons to give the Eagles a 3-0 lead going into singles.

In singles play, Ortiz Couder sprinted out to an early lead against Cardiel at the sixth spot. After dropping just one game en route to a 6-1 first-set win, Ortiz Couder blanked Cardiel in the second set to increase the ERAU lead to 4-0.

Next to her, on court five, Montero following suit, downing Haberthier 6-1 in the first set. After a brief rain delay, Montero returned to the court and held Haberthier scoreless to clinch the victory for the Eagles.
