No. 20 @ERAUVolleyball Sweeps Florida Memorial

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – After seeing their 76-match conference regular season winning streak come to an end the night before, the Embry-Riddle Eagles started a new streak on Saturday with a 3-0 (25-18, 25-13, 25-11) sweep of visiting Florida Memorial. The Blue and Gold, ranked 20th in the NAIA, improved to 3-6 (1-1) with the win, while the Lions fall to 0-7 (0-3).

Beatty led all players with 11 kills and six service aces while Evelina Abdurakhmanova added seven kills. Tamires Ferreira collected match-highs in assists (28) and digs (8).

Arasy Guerra led the Lions with seven kills while Jada Long led the team in assists (10) and digs (8).

One day after playing one of the tightest matches of the season, the Eagles cruised through most of Saturday's contest, with just two tie scores and one lead change in the match. ERAU jumped out to a 6-2 lead in the first set and never trailed. A 7-0 run midway through the frame put it out of reach (20-11) and the Blue and Gold ended up with a 25-18 win.

Set two saw the Eagles run away from FMU right away, taking a 15-2 lead. The Lions weren't able to trim the deficit to single digits, with Embry-Riddle finishing off the set, 25-13.

Florida Memorial scored the first point of set three on a Guerra kill, but that would prove to be the only lead for FMU on the day. After a service error, Beatty took to the service line and proceeded to serve the next eight points for the Eagles, including four service aces. That gave ERAU a 9-1 advantage, which grew to a 19-7 lead after Ferreira put up back-to-back service aces. The Eagles went on to win the set, 25-11, securing the 3-0 sweep.

The Eagles return to action on Tuesday, Sept. 16 with a non-conference match against NCAA II Flagler at 7 p.m. in the ICI Center. Live video and live stats will be available at erauathletics.com/live.
