Eagles Look to Win Embry-Riddle ASICS Classic for Eighth Straight Year

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Embry-Riddle cross country will host the 12th Annual Embry-Riddle Asics Classic this Saturday, Sept. 27.
 
The Blue and Gold will welcome more than 1,000 runners from 12 different colleges and 31 high schools for their only home meet of the season.
 
The Eagles are currently ranked tenth in the NAIA Men's Cross Country Coaches' Top 25 Poll, their first top ten ranking since 2010.  ERAU won its first two meets of the season (Mountain Dew Invitational and South Florida Invitational) and will look to finish first at this weekend's ASICS classic for the eighth consecutive year.
 
Reigning Sun Conference Runner of the Week Vincent Bett looks to have another impressive race on Saturday after finishing eighth at last week's Mountain Dew Invitational, as does fellow senior Alec Hernandez who finished 14th at the same event.
 
Paul McKenna, Jacob Dordick, Jamin Mays, Ryan Larson, and Matt Graves all finished in the top 15 at last season's Embry-Riddle Classic and will look to do the same this year.
 
The first gunshot on Saturday will be at 7:20 a.m. for the men's collegiate/open 8k, followed by the women's collegiate/open 5K at 7:50 a.m.  The large high school girls varsity race will then take place at 8:15 a.m., followed by the large high school varsity boys race at 8:40 a.m.   The small high school girls varsity race will then take place at 9:05 a.m., while the small high school boys varsity race will begin at 9:30 a.m.  The junior varsity girls and boys races will conclude the day beginning at 9:55 a.m. and 10:20 a.m. respectively.
