FORT MYERS, Fla. - The Embry-Riddle Eagles will want to have short memories after Saturday night's 18-1 loss to St. Thomas in the 2015 Sun Conference Tournament. The Eagles (33-17) fell behind 1-0 after the first inning and could never recover as the Bobcats (40-13) cruised into the winner's bracket with the most lopsided win in tournament history.
The second-seeded Eagles will hope to bounce back when they take on sixth-seeded Thomas on Sunday morning in an elimination game. First pitch is slated for 11 a.m. If the Eagles are able to survive in the morning game, they'll come right back at 7 p.m. to take on St. Thomas again.
Tyler Cyr started the game for the Eagles but could only go 1.2 innings, allowing five runs on four hits and three walks, throwing the first three of nine total wild pitches by ERAU pitchers on the night.
Clayton Wagner,
Dylan Demarest,
Dominic Jeancola and
Austen Thrailkill all saw action on the mound for the Blue and Gold, all allowing at least three runs.
ERAU's lone tally came in the fourth when
Joshua Garcia scored from third on a ground ball double play.
St. Thomas struck for 19 hits and 13 RBIs, drawing 12 walks against the Eagle pitching staff.
