DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - The Embry-Riddle softball ended the season on a high note, besting Nova Southeastern 8-0 on Saturday morning.
Robi Zimmerman and
Raquelli Bianco each hit three-run homers in the game.
Kassidy Simons pitched a one-hitter in the circle while also becoming the new single season strikeout leader with 122. The Eagles end the year with a program-high 35 wins (35-13) while the Sharks end their year 12-39.

The Eagles struck first in the bottom of the first inning.
Anna Battison got a lead off walk, Simons followed up with a walk as well. Zimmerman then stepped up to the plate and blasted her fourth homer of the season over the left field fence.

Leading 3-0, the home team doubled its lead in the bottom of the second.
Kailah Rain started things off with a single up the middle and then
Gabriella Obia reached base after getting by a pitch in the helmet. With two outs, Bianco slammed the first pitch she saw high over the left field fence. Her 11th home run of the season gave the Eagles a 6-0 advantage.

The Eagles added another run in the bottom of the fourth inning.
Natalie Morales reached base on an infield single and advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt from Battison. Bianco then singled up the middle to send Morales across home plate.

In the top of the fifth, the Sharks got their one and only hit of the game to break up Simons' no-hitter. Ashley Roe singled to left field but the Eagles retired the side to keep the shutout.

Rae Heuer hit into a fielder's choice to reach base in the bottom of the fifth. With two outs, Rain singled up the middle and both Eagles then advanced one base on a wild pitch. Obia then drew a walk to load the bases. Up next,
Hannah Thomas came into the game to pinch hit and sent a ball up the middle to drive in the all-important eighth run to end the game early.

Simons improved to 18-4 on the year in the circle with the 8-0 win. She gave up one hit and struck out three.

Bianco ended the day 2-for-3 with four RBIs while Zimmerman was 1-for-3 with three RBIs.

This is Embry-Riddle's final game of the year, as the Eagles are just provisional members of both the NCAA and Sunshine State Conference, preventing the team from competing in the post-season.
