MIAMI SHORES, Fla. – The Embry-Riddle softball team picked up a 9-1 win over Barry on Friday night. Senior
Robi Zimmerman had two home runs in the game, one of which was a grand slam. She also started in the circle for the Eagles and recorded her 235th strikeout, making her the new program leader in the category. With the victory, the Eagles improve to 27-9 while Barry drops to 17-14 on the year.

The Eagles got off the quick start in the first inning as
Raquelli Bianco hit a ball hard to second base that was ruled an error, she reached third on the play. Bianco then scored as
Kassidy Simons hit a sacrifice fly to centerfield.
In the second inning, the Blue and Gold struck again with a Zimmermean leading off with a solo homer to right center field.
In the bottom half of the inning, Zimmerman struck out her 235
th career batter to become the new leader in the category for the Eagles. In the next at bat however, the Bucs got a run back with a solo homer of their own off the bat off Kristina Pazienza.
Up 2-1 over Barry, the Eagles broke things open in the top of the third. Scoring six runs.
Natalie Morales led off with an infield single and Battison followed up by reaching first on a fielder's choice. Bianco then walked to load the bases. Morales was able to cross home plate on a wild pitch with Simons at the plate. Simons then walked to load the bases for the second time. Up next,
Haleigh Lewis hit a single through the right side to score Battison and keep the bases loaded. Zimmerman cleared those bases in the next at bat with a grand slam over the left field fence to give the Eagles an 8-1 advantage.
In the top of the fourth, the Eagles added another run. Battison got a lead off walk and made her way to third on a stolen base and passed ball. She was able to cross home plate as Simons hit her second sacrifice fly of the night.
The Eagles were then able to hold off the Bucs to win 9-1 in a five-inning run-rule shortened game.
Zimmerman finished the night 2-for-3 with five RBIs while picking up her sixth win of the season in the circle, striking out four in the process.
Embry-Riddle wraps up the three-game series at Barry tomorrow, Saturday April 9. The doubleheader is scheduled to begin at 1pm.
