MIAMI SHORES, Fla. – The Embry-Riddle softball team dropped two games to Barry on Saturday afternoon. The Bucs secured the series win by beating the Eagles 6-1 and 5-0.
Raquelli Bianco highlighted the day for the Eagles by launching a solo shot over the left center field fence in the first game of the doubleheader. The Eagles are now 28-11 on the year while Barry improves to 19-14.
Game 1 – BU 6, ERAU 1
Through two and a half innings of play the game remained scoreless but Barry broke it open in the bottom of the third. Three doubles in the inning helped propel the Bucs to take a 4-0 lead.
The Eagles got one run back in the top of the sixth as
Raquelli Bianco launched her ninth homer of the year over the left center field fence.
In the bottom half of the inning however, the Bucs added to their 4-1 lead. Scoring two runs on a single to right center by Jasmine Harris.
The Eagles were unable to mount a comeback, falling 6-1.
Kassidy Simons recorded the lost in the circle despite striking out five. The Eagles were held to just four hits.
Robi Zimmerman had two while
Rae Heuer and Bianco had the other two.
Game 2 – BU 5, ERAU 0
The Bucs scored the first runs of the second game as well. In the bottom of the second Barry got the bases loaded following an infield single, an error and a walk. A ground out scored one run and in the next at bat, Kayla Ogle singled to left field to drive in two more, giving the Bucs a 3-0 advantage.
Barry upped their lead it 5-0 in the bottom of the sixth. Anieliese Palmero hit a double off the fence to score two runs.
Like the first game, the Eagles had just four hits. They were unable to get a run across the plate in the game, falling to the Bucs 5-0. Bianco, Zimmerman, Heuer and
Natalie Morales recorded hits in the game.
Embry-Riddle now returns home to host a three-game series against Rollins on Tuesday, April 12 and Wednesday, April 13. First-pitch is set for 6pm on Tuesday at the Embry-Riddle Softball Stadium.
