MIAMI SHORES, Fla. – The Embry-Riddle women's tennis team suffered its second loss of the season on Sunday, falling to sixth-ranked Barry 5-0 on the road. The loss put the Eagles 1-2, while Bucs remained perfect at 4-0.
Sonja Larsen and Judith Bohnenkamp scored Barry's first point of the day with an 8-1 victory over
Kathryn Bock and Ana Gonzalez Hoy at No. 3 doubles. Karina Goia and Isa Rapisarda Calvo topped
Georgina Wood and
Maria Turrillo 8-2 on court two, and Zuza Maciejewska and Dasha Salinkova completed the doubles sweep by besting ERAU's
Maud Mrad and
Alexis Marshall 8-4.
Maciejewska and Mrad faced each other again in singles and once again the Barry sophomore got the better of the matchup, extending the Bucs' advantage to 4-0 with a 6-1, 6-0 win at the top spot.
The clinching point came on court six where Bohnenkamp downed Gonzalez-Hoy 6-2, 6-2.
The Eagles' next match will be at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday when they host Bethune Cookman at the Crotty Tennis Complex.
