LAKELAND, Fla. - The Embry-Riddle women's golf team concluded play at the Lady Moc Golf Classic on Tuesday, finishing the tournament in 15th place overall with 989 strokes over the two-day event. The Eagles shot a 328 in the final round after shooting 330-331 on day one.
Megan Pollenz tied for 68th place with a 245 (83-80-82) after shooting an 82 on Tuesday. Kelly Harris also shot an 82 on Tuesday to finish with a 250 (87-81-82), while Lauren Thielen had the day's low round for ERAU with a 78 to close out the tournament with a 252 (85-89-78). Marlena Weatherly also ended up with a 252 (85-81-86), while Natalie Brooks was just two strokes behind with a 254 (77-89-88). Playing as an individual, Camila Sierra shot a 79 on Tuesday to finish the event with a 251 (87-85-79).
"I'm glad to have our first 36/18 event of the season in the books," Head Coach Maria Lopez said. "We definitely got stronger as the day went on and we will build from here. All of our players showed fight and heart. It was great to see some solid comebacks throughout the round."
Barry won the event with an 895 (298-295-302), followed by Saint Leo (302-298-298=898) and Rollins (302-296-302=900). Individually, Seminole State's Tuan-Yu Chiang (74-72-68) and Saint Leo's Marie Coors (72-73-69) were co-champions with two-under 214s, the first-ever individuals to finish the tournament under par. Florida Southern's Amanda Gartrell took third with an even-par 216 (73-72-71).
The Eagles will conclude the Lady Moc Golf Classic tomorrow, Feb. 21.
