WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - The Embry-Riddle men's basketball team spoiled Palm Beach Atlantic's senior night on Wednesday, shooting 56 percent en route to their sixth game reaching the century mark in a 100-74 road win. The Eagles (16-9) snapped the Sailfish's (13-12) three-game winning streak while holding PBA to just 37 percent from the floor.
The Eagles saw six players hit double-figures offensively, led by
Skyler Hogan's 21 points and 13 rebounds, withstanding an early second half run by the hosts before pulling away for the 26-point final difference.
Luka Majstorovic scored the first four points of the game and seven of the Eagles first 10 as ERAU doubled up the home team 10-5 on his and-one a few minutes in.
PBA responded with a run to go up 17-14, but a three from Hogan, followed by a put-back from
Bradley Mapes put ERAU back in front and the Blue and Gold never looked back, sprinting out to a 15-point lead at 34-19 on a Majstorovic layup at the nine-minute mark of the first.
A
Dillon Graham trey at the five-minute mark pushed the Eagle lead to 20 at 44-24, and ERAU was able to hold a comfortable lead heading into half at 52-37.
PBA came out of the break and immediately jumped on the Eagles for an 8-0 run, trimming the deficit to 52-45. However, Graham delivered a huge momentum-stopping triple to put the Eagles back up by double-digits and ERAU kept the pressure on, going in front by 19 on a Graham dunk with 16 minutes left to play.
The Sailfish didn't have another rally in them as the Eagles kept their hot-shooting on track for the remainder of the game, cruising to the 100-74 win.
Along with Hogan's 21 points, Graham added 16 points, while
Dalton Barnes and
Cole Hunter each scored 14 for the Eagles. Majstorovic finished with 12 and Mapes tallied a career-best 12 points in the ERAU effort. Barnes dished out nine assists and grabbed six boards, while Hunter collected seven rebounds.
Barnes moved past DeForest Carter on the all-time scoring charts and stands alone in fifth with 1,794 points. Barnes also became just the sixth Eagle ever to register 500 assists in a career.
Embry-Riddle returns to Daytona Beach for the 2016-17 season finale against Sunshine State Conference regular season champion Barry on Saturday, Feb. 25 at 7 p.m.
