WINTER PARK, Fla. – The Embry-Riddle softball team fell to the Rollins Tars 2-0 on Friday. The Eagles drop to 18-19 while the Tars improve to 23-16.
The Eagles gave up two solo home runs in the first inning that would prove to be the undoing of the Eagles as they were not able to make a comeback.
The closest chance for the Eagles to get on the board was in the second inning when lead off singles put
Kassidy Simons and
Kendall Funk on base. They advanced on a groundout but
Natalie Morales, pinch running for Simons, was thrown out at home and the Blue and Gold were unable to bring Funk home.
The Eagles held the Tars to two runs and the game ended in a 2-0 loss for Embry-Riddle.
Ilona Andringa (11-9) took the loss giving up two runs on five hits with four strikeouts.
Dana Rowley pitched the final inning giving up no runs on two hits. Simons and
Gabriella Obia each tallied one single for the Blue and Gold while Funk had two.
The Eagles will return to Winter Park tomorrow to face the Tars in a doubleheader slated for 1 p.m.
