DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The Embry-Riddle women's golf team wrapped up play in the Lady Falcon Invitational hosted by Daytona State College at the LPGA Hills Course on Sunday.
Embry-Riddle - 7th & 8th of 9 teams
The Eagles fielded two teams in the tournament and those teams placed seventh and eighth in the nine-team field. Host Daytona State carded a two-day 606 (304-302) to win the tournament, just one stroke ahead of Florida Southern (305-302=607). Saint Leo (623), Florida Atlantic (655) and Tampa (661) rounded out the top five
The Eagles
Freshman Daniela Pena placed 20th overall in the first tournament of her college career with a two-round total of 162 (79-83). Pena led a Gold team that finished eighth at 716 (357-359).
The Eagles' Blue team, which placed seventh, shaved 13 strokes of its Saturday total to post a 342 in the final round of play and finish at 697 (355-342).
Lauren Thielen led the way for the Blue team on day two, carding an 81 to finish with a two-round total of 171 (90-81) and tie for 32nd overall. Her first round performance helped
Marlena Weatherly finish two spots ahead of Thielen as the senior shot a 169 (83-86) to end the tournament in a tie for 30th.

"There were some significant improvements today. The team showed great composure and resolve. Our struggle has given us the gift of showing us where we need to improve. Most importantly, the team sees it and is committed to take it to the next level."
