ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. - The Embry-Riddle women's golf team put a nice cap on its 2018 fall season on Tuesday, firing a final-round 305, the lowest fall team score since the 2011-12 season, at the Flagler Fall Slam to finish eighth overall at 614 (309-305).
Embry-Riddle shaved four strokes from its first round total (309), thanks to a team-low round of 74 from
Kelly Harris to put her at 151 (77-74) for the tournament.
Olivia Whitten came in at 153 (75-78) and
Lauren Thielen managed a six-shot improvement on the day with a tournament total of 156 (81-75).
Megan Pollenz (79-78=157) and
Natalie Brooks (78-82=160) rounded out the Blue and Gold team. For Harris, Whitten and Brooks, the 18-team Flagler Fall Slam marked their lowest 36-hole scores of their Embry-Riddle careers.
Camila Sierra, competing as an individual, finished at 154 (73-81) for the tournament, easily her best 36-hole tournament as an Eagle.
"We were able to finish the fall season with grit and guts today," Head Coach
Maria Lopez said. "We competed through the very last shot and knocked off some ranked teams. We had a very solid and complete tournament."
Limestone won the 18-team event with a 587 (297-290), with Lenoir-Rhyne (297-306=603), St. Edward's (306-298=604), Flagler (304-302=606) and Lee (301-310=611) rounding out the top five. The Eagles finished just one stroke back of Wingate (613) for seventh, and within 10 strokes of a top-three finish.
The Eagles will be back in the spring, beginning with the Flagler Spring Fling in St. Augustine, Feb. 3-4.
